Golden Autumn: A glimpse at a Danitrio Takumi

I had big plans on taking photos today but all I could manage were a few shots at this beautiful dark green tame-midori Takumi with flexible stub nib.

Danitrio Takumi in tame-midori

Tame-midori is an amazing color, deep and intense. Under cloudy skies or most artificial lighting the color looks quite dark and subtle. To bring out its full range broad daylight is best - on the downside you'll have to deal with dust and fingerprints which, as you can see, are extremely clearly visible on the dark, glossy surface.

It can also be seen in artificial light (quite a lot of it though) in this post about the Danitrio Octagon.

I am parting with this pen by the way! Very good used condition, minor micro scratches. About the size of a Montblanc 149, cartridge/converter fill, signed by the Urushi artist on the section. Factory flexible stub nib tweaked by John Sorowka for ink flow and smoothness. If you want to give this beautiful piece of art a new home, just drop me a note. :)

  1. Autumn is such an inspirational season---the changes in the skies, the leaves, and the temperature all make for good writing fodder.

Beautiful Danitrio, even with the dust! I have to admit I have a soft spot for all their pens. I hope yours finds a good home.

As for me, well...I'm just waiting for Sunday to finish up so the postal service can deliver my Omas. It should arrive tomorrow or the day after, and then...picture time! ^_^

    1. I like fall too unless it's borderline winter and the days are very short already.

You've been quick with the Omas! ;) Probably a wise choice since it's an LE... I hope yours is as good a writer as mine! What nib size are you going to get? Let me know if you enjoy it.

The Danitrio, too, will be on its way to its new home tomorrow. :)

  2. Such a shame to miss this flexible stub nib. I am late as always. Hope the new owner will care and love it. Do you have any photo about the line variation of this Danitrio?

    1. Yes, Danitrio's stubs are nice though I did have some lemons out of the box. You can see the line variation of one of these nibs here: http://thesebeautifulpens.blogspot.de/2012/11/the-most-curvy-danitrio-mae-west-ii.html It's pretty nice, when using flex there is a tendency to railroading depending on the ink but they're still great nibs. Their flex stubs are also very wet, the rigid ones not so much.

  3. Thanks for the link. I love wet and broad nibs. When it is like that, I feel myself dancing. Have you tried Visconti Homo Sapiens which is also wet and springy? As far as I understood, it is not your call but I wish you had a chance to try.

Though I have to say I'm not very good at flexing. Got some vintage pens with nice true flex nibs but I use them too rarely to get anywhere. Still I like the feel of a soft, yielding nib. The HS nib actually feels quite rigid compared to that Dani.
